Email Validation Errors & What They Mean

When setting up a new BOS User or adding a parent's email address to a child account the BOS may give you a validation error message. It is important to remember that an email address cannot be used both as a parent account address and as an identity for a BOS User but there are some other issues that may cause a validation error to occur. Listed below are our email validation error messages and what they mean:

  • IN USE - BOS USER
    • This email address is currently in use in our Book Order System and cannot be used.
  • INVALID
    • The domain for this email address has been marked as invalid and cannot be used.
  • UNSUBSCRIBED
    • This email user has previously unsubscribed and cannot be used.
  • SOFT BOUNCE
    • The email address you are trying to enter is temporarily unable to receive emails.
  • MAILBOX FULL
    • This user's inbox is full and cannot be used.
  • SPAM FILTER
    • This user has previously reported our email(s) as SPAM and cannot be used.
  • HARD BOUNCE
    • This email address is undeliverable and cannot be used.
  • IN USE - PARENT ACCOUNT
    • This email address is associated with an active parent account and cannot be used
